As Technical Sales Manager (m/f/d), you will serve as the key interface between technology and sales for the polypropylene (PP) and recyclate portfolio (SECULENE®) of the Plastics Division. The role is responsible for technical customer consulting, application development and commercial growth of the portfolio, combining sound materials and application know-how with proactive business development.

You will contribute to profitable growth across automotive and industrial markets by expanding existing applications, identifying and converting new business opportunities, opening new application and industry segments and accelerating the adoption of sustainable circular material solutions. Act as a trusted advisor to customers while creating long-term value through strong technical and commercial engagement. The role involves regular travel to customers.

The position can be based either at our EMEA Headquarters in Hanover or at our Braubach site in Germany, with regular travel between locations and customer sites.

What you will do

As Technical Sales Manager (m/f/d), your responsibilities will include:

Technology and application

  • Understand the requirements of automotive and industrial markets for polypropylene and further develop the application potential of our products.

  • Support and advise customers from automotive and other industrial sectors on processing our plastics in existing applications and on developing new applications, with a particular focus on injection moulding.

  • Support the handling of customer complaints and resolve technical questions on site at the customer or together with colleagues.

  • Monitor market trends and technological developments and translate relevant insights into product and application development.

  • Prepare cost and material calculations as well as product, application and market analyses.

  • Act as a technically credible partner during material approvals, qualification and specification processes.

Sales and business development

  • Actively identify, qualify and convert new business opportunities across automotive and industrial markets, creating sustainable growth for the polypropylene and SECULENE® portfolio.

  • Develop strategic customer relationships and create demand for circular material solutions through strong technical and commercial engagement.

  • Build effective relationships across engineering, material development, sustainability, procurement and management functions within OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

  • Identify, qualify and develop OEM and Tier 1 opportunities across the value chain and accompany material approvals, qualification and specification processes to accelerate market adoption.

  • Build and maintain a structured sales pipeline and proactively manage opportunities from initial identification through quotation, negotiation and commercial implementation.

  • Lead technical and commercial customer discussions, including price negotiations, while ensuring value-based selling, margin discipline and profitable growth.

  • Translate market intelligence into reliable business assumptions, volume forecasts and concrete growth opportunities.

  • Strengthen the positioning of recyclates versus virgin materials and leverage evolving sustainability and regulatory requirements as growth drivers.

  • Represent Clarios Plastics and the SECULENE® portfolio externally with customers, at trade fairs and in relevant industry associations.

What makes you a good fit

  • Completed engineering degree (Diplom, Master or Bachelor), ideally with a focus on plastics engineering, materials, polymer science or chemistry, combined with several years of professional experience.

  • Sound knowledge of plastics, their fields of application and their processing, knowledge of recyclates is an advantage.

  • Experience in technical sales, customer development or business development in an industrial B2B environment, ideally in an automotive OEM and/or Tier 1 context.

  • Proven ability to build customer relationships and develop business opportunities in a technically demanding environment.

  • Strong commercial understanding of value drivers, pricing logic and margin management.

  • Ability to translate technical customer requirements and market information into commercially viable solutions, reliable volume assumptions and profitable business growth.

  • Analytical, solution-oriented and customer-focused personality with a pragmatic, hands-on approach and a team-oriented way of working.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken

  • Willingness to travel regularly within the EMEA region and enjoyment of solving problems directly at the customer site.
