Role Summary
Responsible for leading Legal Compliance across LATAM and managing Litigation in Mexico, including labor, commercial, civil, administrative, and criminal matters. Provides legal counsel, compliance investigations, training, and policy support, ensuring an ethical and proactive approach to risk mitigation and business transparency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage LATAM compliance programs: provide legal advice, training, oversight, and reporting to ensure adherence to laws and corporate policies.
- Lead investigations into ethical violations, conflicts of interest, or regulatory breaches.
- Maintain and implement Mexico’s Criminal Prevention Compliance Program.
- Define litigation strategy for labor, commercial, civil, and criminal cases; direct and supervise outside counsel; manage budgets and case tracking.
- Report litigation and compliance matters regularly to business and finance teams.
Litigation Management:
Provides strategic direction, legal counseling, and management of Labor Litigation, Commercial & Civil Litigation, and administrative and criminal litigation matters in Mexico, defining litigation strategy, setting up litigation files, maintaining databases, preparing status reports, and supervising outside counsel.
- Directs outside counsel to defend Clarios’ rights in settlements, negotiations, and litigations.
- Supports and supervises claims, ensuring the correct settlement and timely payment of compensation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Attorney licensed in Mexico with 8–12 years of relevant experience in Litigation (Labor, Commercial/Civil, Administrative, Criminal) and Compliance.
- In-house counsel experience in multinational companies.
- Proven investigation and interview skills (minimum 5 years).
- Fluent in English and Spanish; Portuguese preferred.
- Professional designation (CFE, CPA, CIA or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work in a matrix environment.
- Willingness to travel 30–50% within LATAM and globally.
