Manager Procurement Capital Equipment

The Role

The Manager Procurement Capital Equipment is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that support Clarios’ global capital investment and manufacturing expansion initiatives. This role manages strategic supplier relationships across the capital equipment landscape and ensures the procurement of equipment, systems, services, and technologies required to deliver new and replacement manufacturing capacity.

Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and regional sourcing teams, this position plays a key role in enabling long-term operational growth, optimizing supplier performance, and driving value through strategic sourcing and procurement excellence.

This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Enterprise Sourcing.

What You’ll Do (Impact Areas)

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Leadership

  • Develop and execute 3-5 year sourcing strategies for capital equipment and investment projects aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Lead sourcing activities supporting global manufacturing expansion and capacity investments.
  • Manage procurement of capital equipment, manufacturing systems, spare parts, consulting services, engineering services, and related project requirements.
  • Ensure sourcing strategies align with stakeholder expectations and organizational priorities.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Directly manage strategic supplier relationships across regional and global markets.
  • Build long-term partnerships that support innovation, quality, cost competitiveness, and supply continuity.
  • Analyze supplier capabilities, financial performance, capacity, and business strategies to drive informed sourcing decisions.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Contract Negotiation & Commercial Excellence

  • Lead negotiations for commercial agreements, contracts, pricing, payment terms, and supply commitments.
  • Drive cost reduction, savings initiatives, improved commercial terms, and working capital optimization.
  • Support supplier selection, bid evaluations, and contract award recommendations.
  • Ensure agreements align with legal, financial, and operational requirements.

Capital Project Support

  • Partner with Engineering and Operations teams to define equipment and project requirements.
  • Support the development of capital approval packages and business cases for executive leadership review.
  • Coordinate sourcing activities throughout the project lifecycle to ensure successful project execution.
  • Monitor supplier deliverables, installation activities, and post-launch support services.

RFQ & Procurement Governance

  • Lead the CapEx RFQ process, ensuring timely development, bidding, evaluation, and supplier selection.
  • Coordinate procurement activities across regional sourcing teams to align global and local strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, sourcing procedures, and governance requirements.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Track supplier performance metrics and drive accountability through regular performance reviews.
  • Identify operational efficiencies and opportunities for procurement process improvement.
  • Participate in business transformation, technology implementation, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Proactively manage supply risks and develop mitigation strategies for business continuity.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in Procurement, Engineering, Operations, or related functions.
  • Direct experience sourcing capital equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management experience.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing complex supplier and stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as business needs require.

Preferred

  • Experience in capital project procurement and construction sourcing.
  • Experience supporting large-scale manufacturing expansions or greenfield projects.
  • Knowledge of global sourcing strategies and supplier markets.
  • Experience with ERP systems, procurement tools, and supplier performance management systems.
  • Experience in automotive, industrial manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Advanced business, financial, or technical certifications.

Work Model & Travel

  • Work Model: Hybrid.
  • Travel: Moderate travel required to supplier locations, manufacturing facilities, and project sites globally.
  • Employment Type: Full-time.
  • Reporting To: Senior Director, Enterprise Sourcing.
