IT Systems Analyst Data Interchange

Location: San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo León, Mexico
Job Category: Information Systems
Req ID: WD48883

The Role

The Business Analyst – IT Systems Analyst (Data Interchange) is responsible for assembling, analyzing, and representing business requirements for the Data Interchange needs of Clarios, LLC. You act as a trusted partner to the business community — understanding current processes and designing innovative solutions that improve business efficiency. You gather requirements, design IT solutions, write specifications, train end users on process and system functionality, and validate and test new functionality, all while following a formal SDLC methodology in a SOX-compliant environment.

What You’ll Do (Impact Areas)

  • Translate business needs into solutions: define application problems by conferring with stakeholders and evaluating complex procedures and processes; elicit and clearly document requirements; develop solution designs; and establish specifications aligned across business and IT groups.
  • Bring ERP & EDI expertise: apply up-to-date ERP expertise (e.g., QAD EE, SAP) to identify and address operational, financial, and technological risks; apply Data Interchange knowledge in a manufacturing environment (Order-to-Cash / invoice and Procure-to-Pay); and work with core EDI documents — 850 (PO), 830 (Forecast), 862 (Shipments), 856 (ASN), 810 (Invoice) — plus additional customer-specific requirements.
  • Handle mapping & specifications: interpret customer EDI mapping guidelines and Clarios ERP flat-file specifications (text-file layouts), and verify that custom shipping-label designs meet customer specs and that barcodes scan correctly as part of the ASN process.
  • Coordinate development & data setup: coordinate and manage EDI and ERP development teams/consultants; partner with application support, infrastructure, and application management on solution design; and coordinate master-data setup (Items, Customers, Ship-To’s) and required ERP configuration before testing.
  • Drive testing & training: collaborate with developers to implement requirements; lead result validation by developing test cases and guiding testers through QA; and ensure smooth operation by training and supporting stakeholders.
  • Lead projects & relationships: lead or participate in multiple projects — maintaining documentation, managing scope and schedules, setting daily priorities, following escalation paths, and ensuring on-time delivery; run status meetings and customer communication; act as a liaison between business and IT; and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Improve quality & adoption: focus on quality improvement and data management for reliable, valid solutions; recommend process improvements or re-engineering; identify ways to increase adoption and customer satisfaction; support system conversions, upgrades, and enhancements; and communicate ideas and viewpoints to senior management while negotiating the needs of multiple stakeholders.

What Success Looks Like

  • Clear, well-documented business requirements and specifications aligned across business and IT.
  • Reliable Data Interchange solutions (EDI / ERP) delivered on time within a formal SDLC and SOX-compliant environment.
  • Successful testing cycles: solid test cases, validated results, and trained, supported end users.
  • Strong, trusted relationships across business, IT, customers, and suppliers — with issues resolved and escalations handled cleanly.
  • Measurable gains in business efficiency, solution adoption, and customer satisfaction.

Core Competencies

  • ERP systems expertise (QAD EE / SAP) and Data Interchange / EDI in a manufacturing environment.
  • Business analysis: requirements elicitation, pattern recognition, solution design, and functional specifications.
  • Test design and execution leadership (test cases, test plans, QA guidance).
  • Project management and cross-functional coordination.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder negotiation up to senior management.
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking with a quality and data-management focus.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, IT, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Data Interchange, Transportation, and Supply Chain functions.
  • Proven ability to analyze and synthesize business requirements — recognizing patterns and conceptualizing processes to develop solution design and functional specifications.
  • Ability to create test cases and test plans and lead test execution.
  • Experience working on large-scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests from the business.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks at any given point, with strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Understanding of processes, system fundamentals, and analytical data.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, and effective communication and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in ERP platforms, with QAD or SAP preferred.
