Hardware Test Engineer

Location: San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo León, Mexico
Job Category: Engineering
Req ID: WD48873

The Role

As a Hardware Test Engineer, you own the verification of hardware across component, board, subsystem, and system levels. You create and maintain the test plans, specifications, and procedures, build the test systems and environments, and provide the independent verification evidence that supports hardware release decisions — partnering closely with developers to debug issues and drive root-cause analysis.

What You’ll Do (Impact Areas)

  • Plan & specify testing: create and maintain hardware test plans, test specifications, and test procedures, and contribute to the definition and maintenance of regression tests.
  • Build test environments: develop test systems, software, and fixtures used in component testing, and define test environments including laboratory setups, measurement equipment, and test benches.
  • Execute hardware tests: run tests at component, board, subsystem, and system level in accordance with requirements — including electrical, EMC, functional, and environmental tests to verify reliability and robustness.
  • Document & analyze: document test results, deviations, and anomalies in a structured, traceable manner, and support debugging and root-cause analysis of hardware issues together with developers.
  • Align & improve: keep test activities aligned with project milestones and development plans, participate in design reviews to give feedback on testability and validation, and support continuous improvement of test methodologies, tools, and processes.

Decision Authority

  • Approve and release test plans, test cases, and test reports for hardware verification.
  • Define and adjust laboratory test setups, measurement procedures, and tool usage within own responsibility.
  • Identify, log, and escalate defects, risks, and deviations to the HW Lead Engineer.
  • Request corrective actions or design modifications when test results indicate non-conformities.
  • Provide independent verification evidence to support release decisions.

What Success Looks Like

  • Comprehensive, traceable test plans and reports that give confidence in hardware verification.
  • Hardware verified across component, board, subsystem, and system levels against requirements.
  • Issues found early, clearly documented, and resolved with developers through solid root-cause analysis.
  • Test activities aligned to project milestones, with independent evidence ready to support release decisions.

Core Competencies

  • Hardware test engineering across component, board, subsystem, and system levels.
  • Electrical, EMC, functional, and environmental testing.
  • Test system, fixture, and laboratory environment design (measurement equipment, test benches).
  • Structured, traceable documentation and root-cause analysis.
  • Collaboration in design reviews and continuous test-process improvement.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

  • A hardware test engineering background with hands-on experience across component-to-system-level testing.
  • Proficiency in electrical, EMC, functional, and environmental test methods.
  • Experience building test systems, fixtures, and laboratory environments.
  • Strong documentation discipline and debugging / root-cause analysis skills.
